In The Moment with Horses Inc. is a Not For Profit Organization specializing in the use of equines as team members with the aim of facilitating growth, learning, recovery and mental health promotion. While providing Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP), In The Moment With Horses Inc. uses Best Practice approaches which are facilitated by use of the EAGALA model. In addition to providing a safe place for humans to heal and recover, In The Moment with Horses Inc. offers a safe home for horses in need of rescue. We are located just south of Minto, Manitoba.

Kim Ryan – Founder and President

Kim is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse engaged in Independent Practice as well as academia with Brandon University in the Faculty of Health Studies’ Department of Psychiatric Nursing. Kim’s passion for horses began when she was five years old and led to participating as a youth in 4-H and the very first Canadian Pony Club Branch established in Brandon, Manitoba. Kim rode competitively until her early 20s and then ventured off into the pursuit of undergraduate followed by graduate level education.

Between 1997 and 2008, Kim first volunteered as a 4-H leader and later as the District Commissioner of Brandon Pony Club Branch.In 2016, Kim was granted approval for opening the first recognized Pony Club Riding Centre, in Manitoba.

In 2013, Kim became certified as an Equine Specialist and Mental Health Specialist with EAGALA and began offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Services to youth diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder as well as adults experiencing anxiety and/or depression. Having personally experienced episodes of both anxiety and depression, Kim has had a firsthand account of how effective equines can be in assisting one to be truly present and in the moment. Kim attributes her success in her personal pursuit of optimal mental health, to her equine family.
